Too few jobs for people with disabilities
Dutch colleges and universities have created too few jobs for people with disabilities. They are far behind other institutions in the public sector, a new count shows.
By 2026, 25 thousand jobs should have been created in the public sector for people with disabilities. A recent measurement shows that the places have only been added sparsely in higher education and research. Government branches like municipalities and the police are up to ten per cent above their target.
Universities created just over half of the 1,886 jobs they are ultimately aiming for. At university medical centres, 30 per cent of the targeted 2264 places were achieved. Research institutes could still only guarantee half of the 110 promised places.
Koepelorganisatie Universiteiten van Nederland (UNL) cited “the corona pandemic, the tight labour market and the high workload” as the main reasons for not achieving the targets. (HOP, PvT)
