Guest writer On Wednesday 19 April, Tijs Goldschmidt’s two-month guest writership at TU Delft will begin with a public lecture, entitled Het Moerasmuseum (The Marsh Museum).

During his guest writership, evolutionary biologist and author Goldschmidt will teach a master class, in which TU Delft students will design an island. On June 15, Goldschmidt’s guest writership ends with a Vermeer lecture, entitled De Eilandbaron (The Island Baron). In addition, on Sunday 14 May, Goldschmidt will lecture on his best-selling book, Darwin’s hofvijver (Darwin’s Dream pond), at the Delft Synagogue, starting at 14:00.

ParisTech has become the fifth university to join the Idea League, the network of Europe’s leading technical universities. The Idea League also includes Imperial College London, TU Delft, ETH Zurich and RWTH Aachen. The five universities are committed to intensive partnership, focusing on the internationalization of academic training and joint research projects. The network aims to achieve a leading position among European universities through high-level research and academic training. Students from Idea League universities can study for their Master’s degree at one of the other Idea universities.
50 million

The Dutch government has given 50 million euros to TU Delft, TU Eindhoven and Twente University . the three Dutch universities of technology that in 2007 will form the national federation of technology universities. The money will be used to set up five joint research institutes, or ‘centers of excellence’. The five centers will primarily focus their research on five key areas: Nanotechnology, ICT, Sustainable Energy, High Tech Systems & Materials, and Fluid & Solid Mechanics.
