Nostalgia

Eighteen-year-old Fiona Delsing left her home in Switzerland only two and a half months ago to study Industrial Design Engineering at TU Delft. Though she speaks the Dutch language fluently, as she has a Dutch father, she’s never lived in the Netherlands.

She always carries with her a 2 Swiss franc coin. Since Switzerland doesn’t use the euro, the coin reminds her of home. “’I’ve noticed that most Dutch people do everything with their chip cards which I think is a bit unfortunate. I mean, who doesn’t love the feeling of picking up an old pair of pants and finding 2 Swiss franc coin in its pocket?” she asks.
