Students protest against loan system
In eight cities across the country, students are protesting against the loan system and the high student debts this week. On Tuesday, the students will start in Utrecht, Wageningen and Groningen. On Wednesday, they will march in Rotterdam. On Thursday, they will be in Zwolle and Amsterdam. Friday they will finish in Nijmegen and Leiden. The protests are organised by the student unions Landelijke Studentenvakbond and FNV Young & United, who are conducting a campaign against the loan system under the hashtag #nietmijnschuld. A national ‘student strike’ will take place on 3 June. The campaigners want the next cabinet to allow students to study debt-free and to compensate the unlucky generation without a basic grant.
