Universities will not close in fourth wave
Higher education will not close its doors, not even in a fourth wave of Covid. That was what outgoing Minister Van Engelshoven said on Monday at the opening of Zuyd University’s academic year.
In extreme cases, the government may make admission tickets compulsory. Then students and staff will only be able to enter the campus if they have been vaccinated or tested. These regulations are already “in her back pocket”, Van Engelshoven told local broadcaster 1Limburg, but she hopes they will not be necessary: “It’s a very tough tool.”
Testing
The minister calls on students to get vaccinated, “and if that is really not possible: get tested.” There are also free self-tests available. “It helps us a lot if as many students as possible do that test twice a week,” she said. (HOP, BB)
