Best teacherProfessor dr.ir. Jan Buijs, who since 1986 has been a professor of policy and organization of product development at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (IDE), has been named the best ‘teacher’ of the year, as judged by TU Delft’s university fund.
It’s exactly one year since I left the shores of Africa to study in Delft. I may not have seen it all, but I sure have a lot to tell. From the smiling faces of Delft students that gave me an unforgettable welcome at Schiphol, to the grueling hours I spent in half-filled lecture rooms (my previous lecture rooms were usually full to twice their capacity), and the not-so-friendly attitude of Dutch people on the streets of Holland, it’s a mixed story of fulfilled dreams and dangling hopes.
Na de glorierijke jaren zestig herleeft het debat aan de TU als nooit tevoren. Twee nieuwe debatverenigingen, Delft Debatteert en Veritas, zien dit studiejaar het levenslicht.
Priester Antoine Bodar sprak woensdag bij Studium Generale over ‘oneindigheid’ in de theologie en het ‘eeuwig leven’. Bodar is behalve priester en publicist ook hoogleraar christendom, cultuur en media aan de Universiteit Tilburg.
De bachelor elektrotechniek wordt vernieuwd. Vanaf het studiejaar 2009/2010 krijgt de opleiding een breder curriculum, dat meer studenten moet trekken.
Avondcolleges om de grote toeloop van eerstejaars op te vangen worden goed bezocht. Toch zijn niet alle studenten er over te spreken.
Natuurkundige dr.ir. Martin van den Heuvel baarde vorig jaar wereldwijd opzien met zijn onderzoek naar moleculaire motortjes. Afgelopen maandag promoveerde hij cum laude.
